Astralis Fall To Heroic After Yet Another Marathon Match

Astralis Finish in the Top 3 of DreamHack Open Fall.

On Saturday, October 24, Astralis faced their countrymen from Heroic in one last fight for the final. Just like the first time the two teams met in the tournament, it was a marathon match, which brought about both tech problems and double overtime.

Just a few rounds into the first map, Nuke, Patrick 'es3tag' Hansen encountered some serious technical issues and had to switch locations mid-match. When the game resumed, Astralis took it to half-time with a 10-5 score. However, Heroic pulled an impressive comeback, and pushed the two teams into double overtime, finishing 20-22 in favor of Heroic.

Astralis claimed the second map, Inferno, 16-8, and it was all down to Vertigo. With neither team looking to let up during the late hours, the first half ended with an incredibly close 7-8. In the end though, Heroic reached the victory, with a winning score of 11-16.

Heroic will play Vitality for the DreamHack Open Fall championship on Sunday, October 25.

While he showed a masterful performance during DreamHack Open, unfortunately, 'es3tag' won't leave Astralis with a second championship title. DreamHack Open Fall was the last tournament 'es3tag' played with his Danish teammates, before transferring to Cloud9.

But after four months and with two impressive tournament runs, and the title of Pro League Champion, there is every reason to be proud of his time with Astralis.

With the current standings, Astralis is now third on the RMR rankings with 2188 RMR points secured from DreamHack Open Fall, and 4108 RMR points in total.

The next tournament for Astralis is BLAST Premier Fall, where they will face MIBR on November 2.
