Tonight, we played our quarterfinal match against Eternal Fire in the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown, and following a massive comeback and a nail-biting final map, we beat Eternal Fire 2-1.
The match started off on Eternal Fire's map pick, Dust2. Following a hectic start with a poor CT side, gla1ve, and our stand-in from Astralis Talent, Mikkel "MistR" Thomsen, truly shone in the second half that led to an exceptional comeback with a final score of 16-14.
After warming up on our CT side, several notable rounds on our T side proved that one must never give up - or claim that gla1ve is bad with an AWP. With several AWP frags from our in-game leader and a great showing from blameF and MistR, we won the second half 10-5.
Our map pick, Overpass, was up next, and despite good efforts from our side, Eternal Fire secured the win with a score of 16-11. Though blameF and Xyp9x ended the map with great ratings, XANTARES, in particular, proved monumental in Eternal Fire's eventual victory.
Lastly, Nuke was up as the deciding map. With our history on Nuke, things were looking exciting. We began the map with a near-flawless CT side that saw the first half end with a score of 11-4 in our favor.
Things lined up for a great ending and a win in the quarterfinals. However, Eternal Fire was determined and put up a fight that gave the match a nail-biting conclusion. Eternal Fire's CT side proved identical to ours with a score of 11-4 that led to a score of 15-15 and overtime.
Eventually, nothing separated us from Eternal Fire, and a second overtime was necessary to determine the winner.
And, finally, we were able to close out the final map with a score of 22-20, and we're ready for the semifinals!
