Jan Ø Jørgensen has been associated with Astralis' performance team since January 2022, most recently with responsibility for Astralis Talent. Following an impressive track record, the former badminton icon is promoted to Head of Performance with reference to the coming Sports Director.

The new role means that Jan Ø Jørgensen will be moving closer to the Counter-Strike main team.

Anders Hørsholt, CEO:

- Jan has been part of our performance team since the beginning of last year, where he brought a great deal of experience from his time in elite sports and in an extreme performance culture. From the very start, it was clear he had a talent for performance development and although the role was new to him, he has impressed with his approach to both his own work and the way we work with the teams and individual players.

- He has been the driving force behind the recent, very positive development with our talent team, and with this move, he will become a permanent part of the organization on a daily basis, which means, besides his other responsibilities, he will be an integrated part of our main team.

- Jan is already working with the team and I am pleased to see the energy he, the coach and the players have put into the work already. I look forward to following the development and cooperation with players, coach and our future Sports Director, says Anders Hørsholt.

- I have worked with Astralis for a year and a half now, and know the organisation, the culture and the pressure intimately. It is a truly unique place to be, even when we don't win it all, and I am both proud and happy to be able to dedicate all my time to helping the players, the teams and of course the future Sports Director, Kasper Straube, who will naturally be the one overall responsible, says Jan Ø. Jørgensen.

- The way I see it is that we now enter a new phase where we need create new ways and re-build, but with a tremendous respect for the culture and the dedication that has been built over the years and that permeates the entire organization. You can call the framework “old school Astralis”, but with a built-in readiness for change, a common desire and a sense of co-ownership on the part of the players in particular.

- These are some of the points we’re already working on, and I can’t wait to working with Kasper and with the players across teams, so that together we can build on what we know we’re good at, and at the same time be ready to “clear the table” in other areas.
