This past Saturday, March 11, saw the return of the LEC. The Spring Split, the second split of three in the new format, once again gathered teams for round robin stage in the Berlin studio. In the 2023Winter Split, our League of Legends team made Astralis history by advancing to the group stage. The team returned to the server on Saturday with lots of confidence.

Since we last saw them on the Summoner's Rift, Lider has joined the team. The Norwegian midlaner had very little time to practice with the team before the start of the Spring Split. Nonetheless, the experienced midlaner showed an incredible performance in his first official match against KOI on Saturday, March 11.

The match against KOI started slow, with defensive approaches from both teams. At the 26th minute, Astralis slayed Baron Nashor, leaving the Ocean Drake up for grabs. With three dragons already and a 3,600 gold lead, the team smoothly secured a win in a matter of few minutes.

With the first victory of the Split already in the bag, we went head-to-head with G2, recent champions of the Winter Split. Both teams won their first match and fought for the 2-0 record. While G2 secured themselves four drakes, we built up a solid gold lead. In the 33rd minute, a crucial team fight in mid turned the match to Astralis' advantage, going 4 for 0. This allowed the team to move directly into the G2 base, destroying the Nexus and secure our second win in a row.

An incredible start to the week saw us facing off against SK Gaming, both teams with a 2-0 record. Our team entered the server full of confidence, but a few mistakes and an unlucky fight in the SK jungle, meant that we had to turn the game around from our backfoot. However, SK wanted it otherwise, and closed the game out after 24 minutes of gameplay. Despite the loss, we are proud of our performance and integration of our new midlaner in the first three games and can't wait to be back on the Rift. Going into week 2, we sit at a shared third place with a 2-1 record. The standings after week 1:

Our team will play Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, so make sure to tune in and support the team.
