One Match lost, but the Final remains within Reach
It was an intense fight for a spot in the grand final, when Astralis took on Vitality in a BO3.
The two teams had both gone undefeated through the tournament leading up to the match, and Astralis seemed determined to keep the win streak alive, as they showed a dominant performance on the first map, Nuke. When the first 15 rounds had been played, Astralis were leading the match 13-2 over the French squad. The second half brought about a swift 16-4 victory, and Dust2 was next.
The second map proved to be a much closer fight. With only a single round between them, Astralis were leading the match 8-7 after the first half. However, Vitality made a strong comeback after the break, and secured the second map 10-16, tying the score 1-1.
It was all down to Overpass, and the Frenchmen came in swinging, with an intense first half, leaving the score 3-12. Astralis fought for a comeback during the second half, but in the end, it was a 1-2 win for Vitality.
All is not lost yet, as Astralis will have a second shot at reaching the final. The team will take on the winner of Heroic vs. NiP in the lower bracket tomorrow, Saturday, October 24, CEST 20:00.
